Frequently Asked Questions

What will be discussed at in-country training workshops?
The two-week programme of training will consider local heritage and cultural resources so that they can be accessed and disseminated locally and nationally and can be given an international profile.
Part of the training will revolve around heritage and cultural tourism and the role that cultural resources and expressions can be used to stimulate economic growth.

Are the in-country training workshops formal training sessions?
These two-week programmes will not be delivered using a top-down approach. Rather, they will be facilitated in order to promote intercultural dialogue, where all participants and facilitators can learn from each other. It is hoped that through this process there will be an exchange where the facilitators can learn about local expertise and best practice. The facilitators will then be able to look into dissemination and to raise the profile of local practices and knowledge systems via research output and teaching.
Each of the two-week training programmes will be open to up to fifteen participants drawn from across the host country. In Hainan, an interpreter will be used. However, in Guyana and Kenya the programme will be run in English.
