Kaiyao Lin

Kaiyao Lin, of Li ethnic group in China, was born in July 1960. Graduated from Minzu University of China majoring fine art, he is now an artist of folk art and industrial art, a master craftsman, and an expert of Li textile techniques.

From 1994 to 2003, Kaiyao was deputy director of Hainan Research Institute of Li Textile Techniques and director of the institute from 2003 to 2009. He is also a member of China Art and Crafts Society and a member of Engravers Association of China.
Kaiyao was elected as assist chief of Textile Committee of China National Art and Crafts Society in the year 2002 and 2007. From March 2009, he has acted as Deputy Director of Hainan Research Institute of Ethnic Groups.

Honors
Kaiyao was honored ‘Excellent Industrial Artist’ by UNESCO and Chinese Folk Literature and Art Society in 1996, was awarded as ‘an expert with outstanding contribution to Hainan’ in 1998 by Hainan provincial government.

Kaiyao’s art work have been published at People’s Daily, Nanfang Daily, Hainan Daily, Legal Times, Art, Industrial Folk Art of China, Shanghai Airline, Minzu Tuanjie (Magazine), Xinhua Monthly, People’s Digest and the magazine of Communist Party ‘Lilun Qianyan’.
