Pei Chen
Personal Introduction

                                                                                                              
Born in 1968, Ningxia China, she graduated from Jinan University majored in History, and obtained a master degree from Minzu University of China.

She has been chosen to be assistant researcher of Wenbo from 2005; Assistant Chief of Art Research Office, Hainan People’s Art Gallery (also serve as Hainan Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center); Board member of Specialist Committee on Ethnic Museums; Member of Hainan Specialist Committee on Intangible Cultural Heritage; Board member of Research Panel of Hainan Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Committee; Deputy Secretary Chief of Hainan Ethnic Association. She was included in 515 Talent Pool of Hainan from 2006.   

Working field

  1. Theory research regarding intangible cultural heritage
  2. Advise on implementation of protection plans
  3. Organize exhibitions and events
  4. Carry out experience exchange, cooperation and communication activities

Major achievements

She participated in one of four major exhibitions, ‘Intangible Cultural Heritages of Hainan’ in Hainan Provincial Museum between February 2006 and November 2008,  2006.02—2008.11. She was responsible for exhibition planning, design, collection and advise on documentary filming of ethnology.

From June 2007 to June 2009, she, as a specialist, participated in filing nomination of Li weaving techniques to UNESCO as a culture in need of urgent safeguarding. Li weaving techniques were successfully nominated as an intangible heritage, which needs urgent safeguarding by UNESCO in June 2009.  

Honors
She was awarded in June 2009 with Excellent Individual by Ministry of Culture to recognize her hard work during application of UNESCO nomination.
