Professor Yiping Zhang

Prof. Yiping Zhang is Deputy Dean of Hainan Normal University, professor in History, supervisor for master students, board member and vice secretary chief of Intellectuals Association of Hainan, member of Consultants for Standing Committee of Hainan, Deputy Director of South China Sea Cultural Research Base in Hainan, board member of Contemporary World History Research Forum of China, board member of Historical Sino-Foreign Relations Research Forum, board member of Wenbo Hainan.

Prof Yiping Zhang has total of more than 60 publications at academic journals since 1981, among which more than 30 were published at national journals and key journals such as, Historiography Quarterly, World History,Research in World History, Historiography Monthly and etc. He is author and editor of nine books including textbooks. He was honored with six achievement awards.

His research interests are theory of history, world history, international politics and etc. At present, he leads the research of Marx’s World History and its relation with world historical view (research ref. 07BSS001).

In 2005 he participated in organizing of ‘History and Culture of Hainan Series’ in 2005 acting as a strategist, member of chief editing committee, member of academic committed, chief editor for the book of History. The Series received Hainan Province Social Science Award. Prof Zhang also participated in the application for Hainan’s traditional Li textile making techniques to be enlisted into UNESCO’s Urgent Safeguarding List. The traditional Li techniques were successfully enlisted into UNESCO’s Urgent Safeguarding List in October 2009. As a result of this, Prof Zhang was named as Individual of Excellence for remarkable application work.
